World of difference.

Yeah, I know 15k armor can look different than 1.5k armor. But it does work the same. The gold wand looks different to the owner, and any of his/her friends they show it to. To some people, the difference justifies the extra money; to others, it does not.
That's my point - Enough people put a premium on that gold text to make the prices a lot higher. Just about anyone buying the wand in question understands few or no other players will ever know the difference. Whether it makes sense to the rest of the playerbase or not, some people have the money to spend and want the gold letters, "old school" perfect stats, etc.
I'm not passing judgment. I don't care what weapons and armors and such anyone else uses. But the OP asked why the price difference, so I was trying to explain.

The answer your looking for is... Rarity
For Instance
Q9 Strength Gloom Shield Inscribable -5/20 +30 hp = 10-15k max
Q9 Strength Gloom Shield Un-Inscribable -5/20 +30 hp = 100k+ Ecto
Why?
Because ANYONE can make an inscribable shield to any stats they want, but a perfect uninscribable drop is extremely rare
I Collect Canthan Staves for most professions and am happy to pay the cost for a q9 20/20 or 20/10 purely for the reason that it a perfect rare drop, yet I could buy a perfect stat staff for any char for 1-5k max, why do I and others do this?
Rarity, weapon snobbery, call it what you will.
Some ppl do this and some don't, the choice is upto each person.
